Excellent Children's Dentist

We all want the best for our children, and that includes dental care. If you live in San Francisco, you'll find it at Kid Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, the dental office of Dr. Ann Azama and Dr. Dennis Wong.

The staff at this practice is friendly, genuine, and committed to providing a positive experience for your child. When you check in, the smiling reception staff will greet both you and your child and direct you to the waiting area. It's well stocked with toys for children under about four years of age. From there, a dental assistant will escort you into one of three exam rooms. All rooms have modern, state-of-the-art dental equipment and small, wall-mounted televisions. Your child can watch a children's video, like Dora the Explorer, before and during procedures.

Infants and young children can sit in their parent's lap in the exam chair for all procedures. For teeth cleaning, the dental assistant explains each step in simple, non-threatening language and also shows how the equipment works before using it. After cleaning, one of the doctors checks your child's teeth. Our dentist, Dr. Azama, explains each procedure and engages your child in the process. For example, when she checked my daughter's teeth with the explorer, Dr. Azama "discovered" each tooth and counted them out loud.

At the end of the visit, you receive a Dental Examination Report noting the procedures performed and observations about your child's teeth and gums (plaque, cavities, inflammation, etc.). Your child gets a goodie bag: children's toothbrush, toothpaste, flavored floss and a brightly colored flosser. Plus, your child can pick out a toy from one of two well-stocked toy drawers. Note: the toys are quite small so be cautious if your child is under three.

Kid Smiles is located in Lakeside Village, near Ocean Avenue shops and restaurants, Stonestown Galleria and West Portal. Their office has no parking lot but metered street parking is available and there are usually open parking spots right in front of the building.

Going to the dentist can be overwhelming but Kid Smiles proves it doesn't have to be. Check it out for yourself.
